Gottlieb

Gottlieb is a young boy when we first see him in the comic. The story, at first, is about his “coming of age” as a man. He’s not sure where his place is in this world. He has no parents, no friends, and has only known hardship in his life as a child. He feels like he doesn’t fit in anywhere as an LGBTQ youth.
Ivar

Ivar is the special needs person Gottlieb befriends at the mercenary camp. He is mostly a mute, so he communicates with only a few verbal words and mostly sign language. He has a few mental and physical challenges he overcomes to become a valued member of the mercenary camp and dear friend to many, especially Gottlieb. If Gottlieb is the anti-hero of the story, Ivar is the hero.
Arturo

Arturo is the cleric of Beth’lehem. He introduces us to this fantasy world, and eventually to Gottlieb. He is perhaps the last cleric who believes in the old religious texts literally and faithfully. Arturo expects the end of days; he expects demons; he expects to have to defend his town against all kinds of supernatural evils. What he doesn’t expect is how evil men can be naturally, and how vulnerable he has left his town to them.
There are many more, but this is sufficient for issue 1 and the Kickstarter! This will be updated as issues are released.
